What to Expect

            *A fun and motivational class

 *A class that follows a teaching progression that is based on health and performance fitness.  This includes cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, body composition, speed, reaction time, power, rhythm, coordination, balance, and agility.

*Success!  Physical Education should be a comfortable and fun class to be involved in.

 *Information!  Why are we doing what we are doing?  If you don’t know why we are doing something ask!

 *Written test and homework.  I will encourage you to do some fitness on your own at home.  You will also have written tests, which will count for 20% of your grade.

*Handouts and study guides will be provided for you to study from.

*Grading scale and grading.  Your main grade will come from your participation.  If you are working to the best of your ability, then your grade will reflect it.

*Physical education will give you the opportunity to demonstrate good sportsmanship and understand the relationship between winning and losing.

 

Criteria for Participation Grade

 

4Points

I cooperated and participated at the best of my ability, I dressed out, was on time, sat quietly in my group, waited, and followed the teacher’s instructions.  I did everything I could to help myself and others learn today’s lesson.

3 Points

I participated at an acceptable level even though it was not my best effort.  I dressed, was on time, sat quietly in my group, waited, and followed the teacher’s instruction.

2 Points

I participated with the rest of the class after being prompted by the teacher and the other students to listen and/or follow the class rules and expectations for the day.  I dressed and was on time.  I was visited by the teacher to address continual behavior problems or if I did not dress and decided to participate.

1 Point

I participated and dressed.  However, I had a difficult time controlling my behavior and emotions in class today.  These continual behavior problems reached to the point that the teacher had to remove me from the day’s activities.

0 Point

I was sent to the office for the rest of the class period for my irresponsible behavior, I choose to show disrespect to another student, teacher or substitute teacher.

             *Exit the gym and be ready to resume classroom activity
